Chicago App Devs builds mobile apps for businesses across Chicagoland. This policy sets out what personal information we collect when you use our site or contact us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Chicago App Devs ("we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit chicagoappdevs.com (the "Site"), submit our contact or instant estimate forms, sign up for our newsletter, or communicate with us directly by phone, email or text message.
It does not govern information we handle under a signed client agreement. Once you engage us on a project, the confidentiality, data handling and security terms of that agreement, together with any non-disclosure agreement signed beforehand, control how we treat your project information.
2. Information you provide to us
We collect the information you choose to give us. From our contact and instant estimate forms, that is your full name, phone number, email address, company name (optional) and the project or message details you write.
If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address.
If you call, email or text us, we collect the content of that correspondence along with the phone number or email address you used to send it.
3. Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our analytics providers automatically collect certain technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and how long you spend on them, and the referring URL that brought you here.
From your IP address we may infer a general location, such as a city or region. We do not collect precise geolocation from your device.
This information is collected using cookies and similar technologies, which are described in Section 7.
4. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Respond to your inquiries and requests.
- Prepare and deliver project estimates you ask for.
- Communicate with you about a proposal, project or active engagement.
- Send marketing communications you have opted in to receive.
- Operate, secure, maintain and improve the Site.
- Detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
5. Email communications
Our marketing emails comply with the CAN-SPAM Act. Every marketing email includes a clear and conspicuous way to unsubscribe, and we honor opt-out requests promptly. We do not use false or misleading header information, and our subject lines accurately reflect the content of the message.
Transactional and relationship emails, such as a reply to your inquiry, an estimate you requested, or messages about an active project, may still be sent after you unsubscribe from marketing.
6. SMS/text messages and phone calls
By providing your phone number, you consent to receive calls and text messages from us about your inquiry, including through automated means where applicable. This consent is not a condition of purchasing any product or service.
Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.
Reply STOP to any text message to opt out, or HELP for help. You may also ask us to stop calling at any time; verbal do-not-call requests are honored and recorded.
We do not sell or rent your phone number to third parties for their own marketing.
7. Cookies and tracking technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies in three categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies, which the Site needs in order to load, stay secure and function correctly.
- Analytics cookies, which tell us in aggregate how visitors find and use the Site so that we can improve it.
- Marketing cookies, which measure advertising performance and help us understand which campaigns bring visitors here.
8. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share it only with service providers who help us operate the Site and our business, such as hosting, CRM, email delivery and analytics providers, and only so that they can perform those services for us; when required by law, subpoena or other legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of Chicago App Devs, our clients or the public; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, where the receiving party is bound by terms consistent with this policy.
9. Data security
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction, consistent with the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable law.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and any information you send us is sent at your own risk.
10. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as long as required by law, tax and accounting obligations, or the resolution of disputes.
When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it or anonymize it so that it can no longer be associated with you.
11. Your privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion of that information, to request correction of inaccurate information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. As stated in Section 8, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by that law, so there is nothing to opt out of, but every other right listed remains available to you.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it rectified or erased, to restrict or object to our processing of it, to receive it in a portable format, to withdraw consent where our processing relies on consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Regardless of where you live, you may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time the applicable law allows.
12. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Third-party links
The Site links to third-party websites, including app store listings and the sites of clients whose work appears in our portfolio. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit from ours.
